Default Volvo s70 steering rack fitment

Hello

Steering rack on my 98 s70 2.4 125kw failed and needs to be replaced. One guy offered me 01 mk.2 v70 103kw diesel engine rack and told me it should fit. Does it fit indeed?
I know that I have TRW rack. Can I replace it to SMI rack if needed?

Hi, the two racks are not interchangeable. You must replace with a TRW rack ,jack

One car parts dealer offered me t5 TRW rack. Can I use it on my GLT? The code he gave me was: trw 66.0779. Autodoc.com sells this rack and it showed there that it doesnt fit for my car

AFAIK you can use any phase 1 rack but you will need to change the track ends as well....

Not sure, they may be the same but seem to recall someone saying they are different!
