1.8 Cylinder head
I am looking for an expert/advice on the 1.8 Cylinder head.
I have just manged to get hold of a spare head so I can get it machined and ready for a quick swap for my standard head. I want it modified for unleaded and while its here upgraded ready to run twin SU's and hopefully better exhaust, cam etc. My engine and the replacement head are both the low compression versions and i was thinking of raising the C/R to around 9.5 to 1 and i've heard fitting slightly larger inlets helps it breath a bit better... ( from the 2ltre) but heard the stems are thinner. so probably needs new bronze guides and drill them out ? Deck height it slightly over 88mm so have a bit to play with. I also live close to a very good machinist who has done some great work for me in the past. Any advice appreciated. |

I convert to B20 valves using K liners
If fitting hardened seats only do the exhaust. On some B18 doing the inlet will break into the water ways |

Just throwing these out there for bedtime reading.
I'm running a B16 and one of these days I plan to look at the head to see if I might improve it some. I've saved these links for future reference. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...aign=GRMWeekly http://www.diyporting.com/thread.html |

https://books.google.com/books/about...d=KAdDhXNozSsC K Liners are about .030 thick bronze guide liners. I've used them in the shop for years and they work very well and are long lasting. http://www.sbintl.com/KLine.html |
