Default Late 2005 XC70 Towing Electrics

If I have a Volvo removable towbar fitted can I:
1. Have 12S and 12N fitted for a post 1999 UK spec caravan?
2. Use the same setup to tow a basic trailer?

Also the rear wheel bearings on this car have failed after just 12k miles of light use. Is this a known problem and is it really up to being used as a tow car?

Regards

DD

Hi
1. Have 12S and 12N fitted for a post 1999 UK spec caravan?
You may have to have the later 13pin socket fitted, then use the twin
conversion lead

2. Use the same setup to tow a basic trailer? yep,, you will just used the
12N lead , as above

XC90 had a problem with rear bearings, certainly done a few !, seeing as its the same set up, XC70 could suffer as well, but not done anywhere near as many !!

but XC70 is a good tow car

You can get a small adapter to fit the 13 pin electrics to allow the 12N plug to fit. Saves faffing around with the adapter lead if you are not towing a caravan as its only a couple of inches long. I have one that I use when towing my caravan to and from storage, or at any time when I don't need the 12S attached. Around 15 quid from halfords, cheaper at towsure.
