Newby question
Sorry if this is a silly question but how can I tell if the self levelling rear suspension is working. I have a Witter tow bar and when I connect the trailer it slopes forward and doesn't rise when the engine starts.

The self leveling Nivomat suspension is a hydraulic system powered by road undulations and bumps
The constant movement of the shock up and down pumps the shock to the right level, regardless of the loading of the vehicle The way to test is: 1. In an unladen vehicle, measure the clearance between top of tyre and the the lip of the wheel arch curve, and write it down 2. Load the cargo area of the vehicle with around 100kg weight (or connect a loaded trailer with around 70 to 90kg downforce on the towbar in your case) 3. Measure the clearaance again, it will have reduced. Write it down. 4. Drive a few kms over roads that will cause the shocks to work and allow the shocks to pump back up to normal 5. Measure the clearance again, it should be back up to (or close to) the normal unladen clearance And check both sides, they should be within 1cm of each other
