No power to tow socket
A while back I fitted the Volvo leccy box and wiring harness. First time use nothing, no lights at all.
Is there something else I need to do apart from a fuse in location 29 and 30? BR Rod |

Make sure the ground wire is properly grounded

Did it work when you fitted it?

As for Clan's suggestion, I have fitted 3 wiring kits over the years and never once had the dealer download as it only disables the trailer fog lamp. The last one that I fitted recently on my 2007 XC90 did not operate the trailer brake lights ( found immediately when tested after install ) and that was down to the plug on the circuit board not being fully inserted . Retrace your steps .

That was where I was going with my question...
If it was working once you have to look for bad connections somewhere. Swiss's (too many ssssses - sssoundsss like a ssssnake) ssssuggestion is good too - one (bad) connection that'll stop everything working is the earth. But IIRC that's fastened under a 13mm nut so unlikely to work loose I'd be looking at the plugs and sockets between the dist panel on the left of the boot area and the Volvo "leccy box" Cheers Dave |

I totally agree that the trailer software has nothing to do with the power available at the trailer connector.
The basic trailer functions such as lights, turn signals, power and ground will be available on the trailer connector as soon as the box is plugged in and the fuse inserted.
