Default horrible noise...

...on start up.

just for maybe 5 seconds , a terrible clattering. Then a 'poof', and all quiet.

Any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like it could just be the hydraulic tappets, until the oil pressure builds up they can be noisy.
Is oil level okay, maybe needs an oil change or you may have the wrong grade oil...

I posted the vidseo on a WhatsApp groupand they suggested it's the Starter motor - isn't disnegaging properly.

I can't seem to upload the video here

Sounds possible, without actually hearing the noise it's going to be hard to identify what it is...if you suspect the starter motor it may be worth removing it and cleaning the pinion, making sure it slides easily or it may have a faulty solenoid...but I would expect a sticking starter would be more of a grinding noise as the pinion teeth and flywheel teeth grind together...much like if you try to start it with the engine running.
Does this happen on every start up - or just when cold?
More information is always a help
