Water in tailgate
Really, the title says it.
Earlier today I was unloading the car when I found myself receiving an impromptu shower. Water was running out of the tailgate from the left hand side of the plastic moulding carrying the buttons that close the gate. Close examination of the area shows slight evidence of it happening before (watermarks) but this was the first time I noticed it. It wasn’t a great deal, maybe half an egg cup. The rear wash is still working. The car was last washed about 3 weeks ago when it was serviced. I’ve had the back open a number of times since. Has anyone had a similar experience? I popped into the dealer to discuss the matter and their reaction was one of surprise. It’s booked in next Tuesday for them to have a look. Should add that there don’t appear to be any drain holes as in a door. Apart from the airbag bolt recall and a couple of software issues this is the first fault in 2 years less a week. Frank V90 |

This is why I think the struts are breaking, water getting in, rust and freezing seizing up the struts and the force breaking them.
After I wash the car I notice water in my XC 60 around the plastic housing etc inside

I think Boatie has water in the tailgate- not in the struts..
I'm thinking unless you had some major rainfall it's probably a leaky rear washer hose.. the dealer will sort it out I'm sure
