Default Old XC60 or New XC60?

I am looking to get myself into an XC60 in the next couple of days and have a choice to make between the old variant (2017) and new one (2017). They are both D5 autos and both look nice with the older one being a blue SE Lux Nav and the newer one being a silver Inscription.

The cost difference between the two (to me) would be around £5000 for the newer one over the old.

Would be interested to hear whether the new one is worth to or should I go for the old one at low cost? Would very much appreciate views as I plan to push the button tomorrow.

Thanks in advance!

Same gearbox? Or is the old one 6speed and new one 8 speed? AWD or FWD?

Blimey, good question and I don't know. Both are geartronic so somebody else may know?

I'd go for the new one personally, whilst a nice car the tech is seriously outdated in the old model, the new one is a much nicer place to be.

I'm not sure about the old XC60, but when I started looking at volvos I roadtested an old style V60 alongside a V90, and I thought the old V60 was just not on the same level as the new platform. Few months later I tested the new V60 and V90 and virtually couldn't tell them apart. Ended up with my V90.

Personally I think opting for the new platform with all the new tech will hold its value better in the long run. 3-4 years in and the old XC60 is going to look seriously old.

I was kinda leaning towards the new one for the same reasons - they are a seriously nice car. Is there anything problematic that I should look out for?

Are you used to a 40/40/20 rear seat configuration? If that's important you need the older xc60 terrible cost cutting to remove that found it very useful with 2 kids in the back.

The last one is a cart horse just feels like that 5 cylinder diesel would keep running through a nuclear winter, the new one is a bit of a princess!

The new one is so much more refined and a very nice place to be my T5 petrol glides along in complete quiet it's a huge step up in quality.

I miss switches for climate etc but you get used to it.

I miss my last one desperately but definitely the new one.

Thank you that's helpful. I sat in a similar one of each today and the interior of the new one is absolutely stunning and does make the old one feel quite dated.

I hope it's as nice as it looks when I get to it.

Which ever one you get ensure that it has the Adblue system for cleaning the exhaust emissions.
