V40 Gearbox Problem
Hi All,
I am new on this forum. I have a 2018 V40 T2 with the 6 speed manual box. Reverse is at bottom right. Short trips the gearbox behaves perfectly but longer trips approx 35miles plus it becomes impossible to get 5th gear. No grating, clunking or other noises. It just won't go into 5th gear. No problems with the other gears. My Volvo garage had it all day and couldn't find anything wrong with the car. Is there any history of this fault with V40s. At a loss as to what is best to do next. I will be taking it back to the volvo dealer but there is a bank holiday this weekend so nothing can get done until next week. Please help if you can |

Hi Clan
No they ignored what I told them about how it only happens at 35 miles plus. Heated conversation when I went to collect the car. I will book it in again after the bank holiday. I just wonder if any other V40 owner has had this problem |

Useless dealer. This is a known issue on the M76 gearbox. The solution is to replace a rubber gear selector clip with a modified version made of plastic. The part number is 32240062.
