Default Any updates regarding Dashcams?

I've just had a crunch in my new XC40. Some idiot was tanking down a congested side road and didn't see me already in the middle of it, carefully pulling out of another road, just as he rounded the slight bend at speed. I know it's classed as my fault, but if I had had a dash cam, the situation may be different as I was already in the road. (He's also claiming whiplash too, surprise surprise).
Anyway, I naturally now want to get a dash cam and after reading the other thread, I'm wondering if it's possible and which one to get if it is?
I would like one with a screen and one on which I can set markers ...can anyone help please? Has anyone successfully fitted a dash cam to an XC40 yet?

No dash camera fitting recommended by Volvo due to interference with the camera/radar unit fitted to the windscreen.

As far as I am aware this will not change.

In the Users Handbook it explains that nothing must be attached to the windscreen in a small area around/below the radar unit to avoid interference, but outside this area there is apparently no problem in attaching a dashcam.

Default not XC40

I have a BlackVue DR900s 2CH installed on my 2019 XC60 just under the intellisafe pro module ... no problems whatsoever.

Thanks everyone. I've been closely following one of the other threads on the XC40 Forum, but there's nothing new on there since last year (odd, maybe I just haven't found it). A couple of people there have got them set up and none were reporting issues. Shame there are no updates.

The same systems are on the XC60's aren't they? What are people doing there I wonder?

I have a Nextbase dashcam set up at the top of the passenger side of the windscreen on my XC60, which has not caused any issues with the safety systems.

As far as I am aware, the safety systems are the same in all the new Volvo models.

Volvo also announced a tie up with one of the dashcam manufacturers a couple of years ago and was selling them through the Dealers.

One thing I learned to my cost was if you're going to be using the car in a hot climate be sure you buy one with a capacitor power bank rather than a battery, mine swelled in the heat and split the camera.

Volvo have told me they hope to resolve the problem of fitting a dashcam that doesn't interfere with the electronics this year

I now have a Blackvue DR750S-2CH fitted in my XC40. It was fitted by the dealers, although I had to supply it to them. It works fine although there is one point to watch. It is situated on the passenger side of the rear view mirror near the top of the windscreen. Just how near the top of the windscreen any particular type of camera should be seems to be a matter of caution as the wipers do not reach the top and there is a possibility of the camera catching the unswept area in the top of its field of view. This does not seem to matter greatly as most of the field of view is clear, but it is not ideal.

Hi All.
I went for a ROAV. It fits snug to the window, about 2 ins to the left of the radar unit, close to the top edge of the windscreen and seems to have a good view. Don't think the resolution is very good for number plates on the model I got, but there's an upgraded model now available. I got this after I saw a review on the Volvo XC40 forum.
Works pretty well for a cheap model and I fitted it myself quite neatly.
I haven't noticed any problems whatsoever with the radar workings.
