VCUK optimistic pricing.
I believe that many of us are aware that Volvo in the US set prices for their new cars way, way below those asked here in the UK.
However, I understand that they are currently giving rebates of up to $10,000 on finance schemes on some US spec. models...the 'R's and S40's to name two. Makes you wonder how they see us here in Europe....bent double and quivvering in anticipation of being shafted....but gently of course in Swedish themed luxury. Regards, Don.Norchi. Edit. I should have put this in the General Messages!....bit early in the morning..... Last edited by don kalmar union; Jun 22nd, 2006 at 08:37. |

Anyone that buys a new car still deserves the £10k shafting they get upon driving it off the dealers carpark...
Buy it a year old for half the price! Griz |

In a discussion a while ago with folks on the V70R.com forum, it seemed to be $ for £. At today's exchange rates, that's not far off half price! They also have a scheme where they can collect the car in Europe, drive it around on a holiday for a few weeks, then have it shipped over to US at an even cheaper rate.
No wonder most of that web site's members are driving the new V70R. I gave up discussing it, just too upsetting. Planned to find a dealer in California while I was there with work last week to check it out, but ran out of time. Maybe next visit. Oli

Maybe get an American dealer to order you a RHD V70R. You can drive it round in Europe, but instead of having it shipped over to the states, drive it to the U.K

The most remarkable thing in all this is that with Volvo's substantial market share in North America at these hugely discounted prices vis a vis their 'rip-off' pricing policy in the UK that they can hold their position as the only brand within the Ford Empire that makes a reasonable profit.
What is the true value of this Swedish Iron? Regards, Don.Norchi. |

Makes you wonder if the prices charged over here are subsidising the prices charged over there?
