Default Is this abs

On an 04 V70 D5.....the abs light's on, brakes still work but turning left or right even slightly there's a hellish whine/high pitched buzzing coming from the front somewhere. I read here about taking out the 2 30 amp fuses to get the noise away but did nothing. Is the module/pump to far gone now as it's hellish to drive quiet.

Could be loose driveshaft bolts or cracked ABS rings generating the fault. Get the codes read and that should narrow down the cause.

Cheers Simon....it's not the rings as both were replaced (cv joints) when the crank, torque seals were done just a month ago. As for the d/shaft bolts, new one were used that came with the joints and there's nothing knocking ect when driving so can't be them I'll check them though.

I also read (not here) online about jamming a thinish bit of wood, plastic ect between the and module and connector and as stop gap so will try it tomorrow too. It's mainly to get this bloody whinning/screeching noise away when turning either way. And so far nobody's got a second hand module/pump I need (P30643979) typical..

Thanks for that...as stated above though i've had both cv's replaced a month ago, one ring was split but don't remember what side now. So far I've no axle ping ie no obvious loose d/s bolts but will check the torque anyway, I'll also try and check the new rings for rust and/or splits. Like I say though, so far I'm not getting the pulsing in the pedal it's this high pitch whine/screech when turning that's a pita.

Is it not the power steering?
Does the noise only occur while moving?

Just a thought. If it happens when turning the steering, when not moving, then it sounds like a PAS problem.

I'm with Greenbrick. Sounds like ps pump. My TVR does it sometimes. Could contamination in the quills.
