Default Car values

Recently saw this add for a PV being advertised in Germany. the price seems way over the top as a similar one here in Portugal,in concourse condition with all the papers would fetch €16k/17k. A good one needing cosmetic work would fetch about €10k and a resto' job up to €5k. What are prices like where you are?

Probably a bit less than Portugal over here, though low mileage cars always seem to command silly prices.

I reckon that all cars - classic & modern - command silly prices!

In the U.S., a very nice PV can be had for less than $10,000. So maybe 13000 Euros. My sad car is worth about $4,800 on a good day.

I think "values" are different from asking prices.

In Holland there are several PV444s and PV544s that have been sitting about for sale at the 15K (euro) level for about a year. They're not especially popular vehicles.

Amazons seem to shift a bit quicker - Amazon Estates seem to sell the fastest

The bottom asking prices for PVs and Amazons in Holland are usually around the 4-5K mark. (Fake) Rally cars seem to command the highest asking prices.

P1800s are in a different league - add on about 25 - 50% of the asking prices for Amazons and PVs.

Cars that are given claimed concours status tend not to be!

These are the "values" here in Portugal as suggested by the ACPC Automobile club Portugal classic cars" from 2015. The differential in "values" between Amazons ans PVs is interesting. The PVs are becoming quite desirable here and there are not so many about.

Practical Classics magazine in the UK used to make such lists. I'm not sure if they still do them I haven't bought a copy since moving to Holland.

Hagerty Insurance have a valuation tool that can sometimes be a useful guide.
The UK MD owns a Volvo 1800S.
See the entry for this tool....
