Default Ignition to position 0 in MY11.5 onwards

I'm preparing for the winter and I've been trying to get my windscreen wipers to the upright position, but cannot achieve position 0 with the ignition. I can easily find position 1 and 2 (the position required to see the engine oil level in my model year car) but not 0.

I have the type of fob that you can pull out if the engine is still running....

Is there anything else that requires ignition position 0 other than the wipers?

position 0 would be just pushing the key in yes? nothing happens though does it ? from memory .. which might indicate the owners manual may be a bit out of date as it has been recently with a few other points ..

I think that I have managed to get this to work - once, or maybe even twice

I just switch the engine off when the blades are vertical, do what I want, and they reset when i start the engine again

I couldn't be bothered working out where I am going wrong.

Yes, I agree..I've spent too long trying to get this to work already and as long as the wiper issue is the only thing that requires position 0 then there is a way around that, as you say...weird though...

Try this:

1. Make sure that the driver's door is closed.
2. Insert the remote control key in the ignition switch ( Positon 0 )
3. Set the remote control key in ignition position II (With the remote control key fully inserted into the ignition switch - Press START/STOP ENGINE for about 2 seconds with no feet on pedals.)
4. Touch the wiper stalk, so the wipers wipe 1 time.
5. Bring the ignition switch to position 0. (Briefly press on START/STOP ENGINE."
Keep the remote control/key in the ignition switch.)
6. Move the right-hand stalk switch up for about 1 second. The wipers will move to standing straight up.
The wipers reset when the engine is started.

This works, but you can skip Step 4 above.
1. Unlock car
2. Press start/stop briefly to turn ignition on.
3. Press start/stop briefly again to turn ignition off.
4. With key still in - move wiper stalk up for 1 sec. Wipers move to service position.

Edit. Also you don't need the drivers door closed. I just double-checked this myself and leaned in to do it with the door open.
