I hear the PP compressor in mine every time I start the car in the morning. It runs for 10-15 seconds then shuts off.
I pointed this out at the last service and was told "no fault found". Can't say I've noticed any reduction in engine response when pulling away, but it does make me think there may be a slow leak. Steve |

Plus I have not had a broken PP pipe yet. Mmm. (Sad state of affairs when you worry about something not working because it has not broken yet)

I reckon I've got a slight leak around the DPF, but it can't be significant or the pressure differential sensors each side of it would surely cause a fault code
However, it could be that it is a tiny leak or that the ECU only reports large pressure differences, and not insufficient differentials. Either way, it is enough soot to coat the inside of the exhaust and leave a deposit on the chrome fake tailpipe surrounds, but nothing visible in the [invisible] exhaust plume.

I can see into the exhaust pipe of the Honda right into the silencer and it all looks as clean as the day it was fabricated.
I'm not concerned about the soot on the Volvo's tailpipe region, only surprised at the contrast. The Nissan is also clean but the Ford Ranger is more like the Volvo, with noticeable but not extreme soot deposit.

Mine aren't! The dealer says it's normal but I'm not convinced.

I've just come back from Geneva where I had a Mini Cooper All-4 (diesel, auto). The BMW engine (I assume?) was so refined that it was hard to tell it was a diesel. On the other hand, the interior, especially the dash, was a disaster zone.
