Default Does anyone use a Scangauge 2?

I've got a 2001 S60 and I love information. I've got no real need to use a Scangauge 2 but I like the idea of all the information it can give me so I'm thinking of getting one. I wondered, does anyone else here use one? Will all the features work with my car? Are there any problems with them? I'm just interested in hearing any opinions of them really.

looking at the www about it, it looks like a generic obd11 reader.i have found with these that it is very limited as a code reader ie to engine only i could be wrong. depends what you want to use it for.

I want to use it for things like average speed, on-the-spot MPG calculation, battery voltage and general trip computer functions, because my car didn't come with that.

Nothing available for the Iphone (due to the bluetooth restrictions) however, there are some very good apps for android powered phones that do so much more than this (based on what the OP wants to do). Get yourself a twenty quid OBDII bluetooth adaptor from ebay & you are sorted (assuming of course you have an android phone). For functionality you'll get more from it than the scanguage.

Yes, I've looked into them, but I don't want to use my iPhone for this and I don't have an Android device. I want it to be a device that I can leave permanently attached.

What I am mainly interested in is anyone who has experience with a Scangauge unit and can comment on whether it is fully functional with the S60 and if there are any specific problems with it. I've seen them recommended a lot on other forums, but those weren't specific to Volvos or S60s.

Default ScanGuageII

Hello, I have a ScanGuage. You can get incoming air temp, engine RPM, throttle positioning sensor data (though not in the "machine language" a specific car maker might use), coolant temperature, some data from the previous day's travel such as top speed and top RPM, instant GPH readings and some other stuff. Once when the transmission of a Honda Accord destroyed itself it pulled a "non-Pxxxx" code which was a transmission code. I've never seen anything other than a Pxxxx code in either of my 2 V70s. If you decide to leave it plugged in you'll have a connector dangerously near your shin bone. You could read the owner's manual online as of several years ago at www.scanguage.com. Keep in mind that my unit is a first generation SG. I have another reader which was recommended to a friend by a car guy in Sweden. He, his friend and I have Saabs in our families. This unit (bearing a store's name-Biltema) is limited. It will read my V70's codes and those of a 2001 Subaru and 2005 Chevy truck but can't erase them. My SG has never failed to read AND erase everything I've connected it to. I hope some of that can help you. Kira
