Ask why the clutch would be so expensive to repair. After all it is only a common or garden Pressure plate and driven plate type of clutch (maximum €250 to replace the bits and reset cable). Belts are €120 per pair from German Swedish & French and they do mail order and they are easy to replace DIY. They are trying on the "everybody uses Euros now mate" excuse to hike up their charges. All the best, Peter |

Sounds like your mechanic is on a wind up to me theo.
Is it a Volvo main dealer?.... I`d get some quotes from a few independent garages before getting this done - maybe tackle the belts yourself. How much do garages generally charge per hour in the Netherlands? Will Plummer |

RE: big time Repairs... DOH!!!
i had to let them do it (vacantion is today...)
totall cost: 1002,92. including labor, new parts, etc also including BTW (VAT). main part is labor. if i had the time i would love to do it my self... but i only have this 1 week of to get some R&R. than back to my part time job, than august 1st, internship at B/E aerospace (important..!!) labor cost vari from 10 euro at you local dodgy looking bloke, till 70 euros at the main dealers... (i went to the official dealer, just because the rest of the car is sooooo good( NO RUST interior looks like it just came of the shelve, dont want any shady people to screw me... (eehh yes sir im sorry but youll need a new johnson-rod.... and no we did not kept old one... ) by the way, these parts (belts and clutch have been in there since 1987.... so was expected.... but still comes as a unpleseant message ... i'm of to the camp site now!!! thanks for every thing!!! theo |
