Headlight bulb replacement
Ok, one of the bulbs has gone so I'm considering upgrading them.
Any recommendations without breaking the bank...? Links would be appreciated. Ta |

Year and trim level frequently help.
"Regular" halogen bulbs or HID lamps? Assuming you'd know it if you had "special lamps" let's conclude you have halogens. The extra bright ones have a shorter lifespan so don't buy them. Also, super bright ones have melted plastic housings so don't buy them. The names used by the makers differ depending on which side of the pond you're on so a UK person will be along with a suggestion. |

A 55 plate will be a facelift car with plastic lenses I think.
The fitting of new bulbs is such a pain that I always go for the longest life bulbs I can find so I don't have to do it too often. To date I have found genuine Volvo parts from a dealer cost about £12 (from my very poor memory) , much more expensive than almost everywhere else, but they have lasted a couple of years and more than 20k miles.

Volvo bulbs at my local dealer have always been Hella. If you ask nicely they'll often put them in (and will usually do if you're having something else done). Last time Hellas were only £6 each I think and the current ones in our facelift V70 have lasted 4 years and counting. I do turn off the main dipped beams in daylight if I'm driving.
