I'm talking about North Manchester, Whitefield in fact. We are unlikely to see each other on the road. Its a big City!!

Afraid I sold my 480Tub Auto over here on this forum:
http://www.volvo-480.org/

It had been re-registered & I had my hand snapped off. Apparently turbo/auto option was never available in France & as such is a very rare beastie here & desirable despite being RHD.

Good news is that the new enthusiast owner Olivier has restored it to a better condition than I would ever have acchieved

He has also fixed the pop-ups now too Good news is I get regular updates

Perhaps, perhaps not. I have family in Whitefield. I don't like them very much, but they're there.

----Beware this post contains discriptions and images that some people may find disturbing---

Hi Guys

I have been wanting to share this for some time. a couple of years ago I was the proud owner of a celebration #064. 2.0 in burgandy - my pride an joy.

Whilst driving down a road minding my own buissness a tranny van passed me with some (insert appropriate expletives) in and the hit the back of my car with a pick axe handle - this shattered the back window and damaged around the water jet nozzle.

I said to myself you have picked the wrong person tonight and imediatly gave chase and the 2.0 lump under the bonnet sprung in to life and did not let me down. i followed the van, at speed, as they tried to escape (the driver later told the police that he though i 'was going to kill him' so he 'drove for his life').

After a chase of about 5 minutes at speeds of up to 90 mph (again the 480 loving it)the end they drove up a dead end street and tried to turn around
but they got stuck half way across the street. i jumped out to teach these scallywags a lesson but when the passenger jumped out of the van with a pick axe handle i swiftly got back in to my car and as the hoodlem got back in to his van i drove wheels spining in to the front passenger door and took it clean off. This i thought would stop them as now they had damage to their vechical but no they drove off through a fence and over a garden in to the next street.

As i inspected the damage to my beloved 480 i feared that it may be the end of the road for it.

The police caught the 'travellers' who were 'out for a laugh' and they were cautioned and let go - CPS stated that it was not worth giving them a court date and charging them as they wouldnt turn up anyway. this makes me glad in that i damaged their van however i regret to say that 064 was never the same again and not long after i part ex'd her for an Audi (i am back in the ovlovs now with a S60 D5).

I found a guy breaking a 480 same colour and everything so got a wing, nose cone, headlight and back window from him - the new window shattered as i lifted it up to put in place so i had to get another - they are supprisingly difficult to get hold of. i never could find a new bumper so that had a couple of holes in.

i hope it is still out there driving like a dream from the 80's!

i have included some pics for your interest / horror.

Paul

Surprised that the front spoiler survived the frontal impact(s)!

Default volvo 480

Hi all

Im brand new to this site. I bought my 1988 volvo 480es a year ago and think its a great wee car. Very nippy when it gets going.

Ive seen a few 480's about but they all seem to be 90's ones. How many early models are there out there?

I'm looking for a speedo for mine so if anyone has one for sale or free (worth a try lol) thats working can you please contact me, thanks.

I am from Stirling and have a red 1988 Volvo 480ES with 85000ish miles on, I know its more but as speedo's not working not sure of exact mileage.
