It's bad enough dropping a spanner under the bonnet , much worse if it doesn't make it to the floor.

LMAO done that a few times!! I have the under tray fitted to my motor which has the 2.5T petrol lump in it

Over here (in the Malaysian hot climate), my S80 2.0T came from the factory with the tray. So do the other S60s and S80s I've seen. And here it's all petrol.

Yes these trays can hide oil leaks. I did an oil change and noted two oil spots on tray! On the good side compared to my V40 which has the tray covering only the front part of the engine, the S80 tray does keep the belly of the engine pretty clean.
