Default Tyres/Tracking/Suspension question

Hello

I'm hoping one of you kind people will be able to help me out here. I don't know much about suspension but my 2002 V70 D5 was serviced last month and the front wheels were found to be a bit 'wobbly' due to bushes being worn. The rear bushes were also worn. I understand that this is fairly normal on V70s of this age and mileage. On Saturday I had the "lower suspension arms and wishbones" replaced. The worn bushes had reduced the tread on the front tyres to only just legal and the rear tyres were due for replacement so I've ordered 4 new tyres which will arrive this afternoon.

I've now got to make an appointment at our local tyre centre to get these fitted and will also get the tracking done. Thing is, I was chatting to someone last night who told me that I'd probably need the 'geometry' doing and/or a 4 wheel alignment as well as tracking. Do I need all this doing? What exactly are all these things?

Any advice would be very much appreciated because I'm wary about walking into a garage with not very much knowledge and being cajoled into paying for all sorts of things I don't really need.

All the best

Joe

if you have had those parts replaced the 4 wheel alignment will need doing
depending on where you live will dictate prices for instance in Leeds it will cost you £25

I got lucky - when my wishbones were replaced the tracking was spot-on so no charge

Thanks Mike. I'll get that done. I'm looking forward to the improvement on the car. £25 sounds like a real bargain. I'm in France and looking at something like €130 for fitting four tyres and getting "le geometrie" sorted. Still, hope they can do it soon and get me back on the road without rubbing more tyres out!

Cheers

Joe

Hi Mike - out of interest where in Leeds can you 4 wheel alignment for £25? I've never seen anyone do it for less than £45 I feel ripped off now
