Can't you tell from inside the vehicle whether it is a 6-spd? Looking in the engine compartment and not finding a dipstick is not the recommended way to determine which transmission you have.
Is it a geartronic? That is, can you shift the gear shifter laterally and operate the gears manually by pushing the lever forward or back? If so, when you are cruising at 60 or 70 mph and you shift to manual control, what number appears in the gear display in the instrument panel?
