Happy Birthday
I wish to say Happy Birthday to the "Gold Freak" - which is my car - Gold because of the colour and Freak because the UK number plater was originally E246FRK.
She is 18 years old today - so I guess I have to buy her a cake and take her to the pub for a drink. 164000 miles and counting - which I have only done 20000 in the last 18 months. She came with a FSH (all Volvo), all MOT certificates, and every service and maintenance receipt - the last owner had even paid for the windscreen to be resealed. She cost £1400 from Phil Whitacker cars in Farnham Common - a man who knows his Volvos. In 18 months she has: - written off an Astra Estate I drove into the night before I was to drive to Switzerland to start a new life!!! - passed her Swiss MFK needing only brake hoses, new headlights (obvious), new washer hets and tubes, a new wing mirror and the engine cleaning - driven from the UK fully loaded with part of my life, back to the UK with a box trailer, back to Switzerland with a full (1500KG) box trailer!! - averaged 27mpg - peaked at 33mpg and 185kmh (115mph) - not at the same time!! - been induced into oversteer just once - left tracks of rear tyre rubber on one hairpin on a daily basis - picked up one puncture - done countless donuts in an icey car park with my better half screaming for me to stop - on Christmas day!!! - swallowed countless trips to Ikea with consummate easy - the record is 2 sofas, 2 beds and accessories - driven up and down a snow covered mountain with snow chains on laughing FWD cars eating barrier - moved house for both myself and my better half - 2 seperate flats into 1 flat - lost its trailer electrical connection and getting the mechanic to almost lose his tether on reality trying to wire the thing back in!! That pretty much covers the last 18 months. |
