850 Fuel consumption
Hi,
I am thinking of changing my 760GLE Estate (1989 V6) for a more economical Volvo, what sort of consumption figures could I expect from an 850 Estate and what engine spec would you recommend. The car will be used mainly for short journeys transporting 4 golden retrievers with the occasional long journey towing (probably at around the maximum towing capacity). I look forward to your comments. Steve |

RE: 850 Fuel consumption
My 850 GLT gets around 18 - 20 to the gallon around town and around 27 - 29 on a long motorway run. It's a 2 litre 20 valve.
Surprisingly, my T5 fares a little better. The biggest surprise was that I got over 21 around town! GET A T5.The consumption is no worse. Oh, and it's fun! Regards Andy |

RE: 850 Fuel consumption
850 2.5l 10v.....about 23 round town, low 30s on motorway.
If you're towing a lot the 10v has lots of low down grunt, but the fuel consumption isn't any better than a well driven T5. The T5 would be loads more fun too. How about a diesel though? |
