Default under engine tray

I was under the car at the weekend and noticed my car doesn't have one.
Is this a problem? or should I replace it.
I'm assuming it's a dealer only part.

Mine hasn't,

I'm not certain but I think they were fitted to the diesels to make them quieter.

my bi-fuel doesn't have one either - I assumed a previous owner had taken it off for some reason.

My 2005....no tray. I always assumed it had done AWOL but maybe it was never there in the first place

They were fitted on all P2 V70/S60 petrol and diesel that I have looked at but have heard of a few which were said to not have come with them fitted also advised in a post by clan that its a sound baffle to help diesels meet noise targets . I removed the undertray on my V70 two years ago and left it off but I also have a different V70 which was involved in an accident and I think the undertray helped save the sump and gearbox becoming seriously damaged , its made of plastic but it withstood the weight of the car sliding along the edge of a ditch . I am certain the car would have been a complete write off had no undertray been fitted .

Must say I've sometimes considered fitting one to my 2.0t, which doesn't have one. It is already very quiet indeed, but if it could be made quieter still then that can only be good.

I think somebody once posted that it was deleted from petrol spec to improve engine cooling in hot territories. But it also occurs to me that perhaps Volvo deliberately left some sound deading bits off the petrol cars, in order to reduce the perceived gap between petrol and diesel refinement levels...?

I have already fitted some sound deadening inside the wings, which was present on my diesel S60 but absent on the identical spec petrol car. Made a noticeable difference to tyre noise.

On the other hand it will stop leaking fluids from spotting on the floor under the car.

I always find it useful to know if the car is dropping fluid and an easy way to check is on the drive where you usually park.
