Insight software with a CEL 633A Environmental sound level meter with 13 octave bands.

Volvo UK seem to have woken up today.

As a comparison are you able to use the CEL 633A in another car under the same test conditions?

The more scientific data based argument we can put to Volvo UK the better if we as consumers are to get a remedy to our noise issues.

Yes, the meter can be used on any vehicle or in any space, confined or open.

Not sure if you are aware, but by a member request, I moved my postings onto another thread called excessive road noise. I outline what I've done and how I compared vehicles on there.
I cannot reply to PM's until I hit 30 posts.
Regards

...and by the way....(as I register another post)...

my impressions of my XC90 are very high. The initial road noise has been satisfactorily addressed for now. I believe new enhancements are forthcoming from Volvo.

In two weeks, I've done a thousand miles and I'm delighted with the vehicle.

Just to add:

We also have a Audi Q5 in our household (S Line) on 20" wheels. I was driving the M25 junction 10 - 8 which has that hideous concrete surface and the Audi was droning just like the XC90. I'll check the tyres but I'm pretty sure the Audi has Conti's too. This droning was loud....

I picked my T6 up two weeks ago (NW England) and it has Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres. The noise level doesn't seem too bad but I've nothing to compare it with.

There are a few sections on our motorways with concrete surfaces that are well known for being noisy in any car. I have tried to steer clear of using these as a comparison as it distracts from the issue of road noise on standard road surfaces.

Yes agree, because people keep mentioning this bit of road Volvo believe the noise issue is only on this stretch of road, "Volvo it is an issue on most uk roads" the car is atrocious.

Volvo are at last responded to this road noise issue and are going to retro fit quieter tyres to my car, I hope this resolves this and I enjoy driving my car at last. And anyone else who are not happy with there's.
I have also fitted strips of rubber in the gaps either side of the rear door window blinds to stop noise from that area, I cant understand why they did not extend the plastic rod in the top of the blinds to fill this gap when blinds are down. (Permanently in my case)
