Default S60 D5 2002 air conditioning temperamental

hi
I would love to keep my D5 S60 2002 but air conditioning annoys me. After charging 2 month ago sometimes its working and the other time it is not.

Has anybody on the forum had similar problem?
In what sequence shall i start diagnosing and replacing the parts - not myself but garage. I want to keep the car without doubling or trippling its value

A few month ago my mechanic mentioned that the fan probably needs replacing as - when car is stationary and AC is on should the fan be also ON?
Regards

Hi
i have not had this problem, it does sound like the clutch play on the compressor is to much(look on youtube), also on the 2002 D5 you can look on vida and get a lot of info on the ac when running,
i had mine re gassed but it did not last more then 1 month, so i fitted a new AC condenser ,as it is in front of the main radiator and intercooler, it can get hit by stones very easy, and i also fitted a wire mesh in the cut out in the bumper to help protect it,

My Fan is not on when car is stopped and AC is on, i think because The D cars do not make a lot of heat,

Yes the radiator fan should always be on when AC is on. usually low speed when idling. does the fan work in hot weather for the normal engine cooling system?
