Default S40 2.0D de lux handbrake.

I have completed adjusting the handbrake cable on my 08 S40 2.0d lux.
I am sure there must be an award of some kind for the designer of this complete piece of garbage.
4 pieces of plastic trim to remove and 4 screws and a plastic catch to disengage to get the centre consul to slide back, and after all that you can scarcely get access to the adjuster!
Worse still after getting it adjusted it installs absolutely zero confidence.
A chock under the off side front wheel with a rope attached for retrieving the chock before moving off would be preferable!

its easy , you just don't know the correct method .

you remove the cup holder .. easy and remove the curved cover over the adjuster .. easy .
slacken the nut fully , press the pedal hard a few times , adjust the cable for minimal travel , ... when properly adjusted and used it is entirely adequate .
you actualy apply the parking brake with the footbrake THEN Pull the lever up to hold the rear brakes in that position , you dont rely totaly on the lever to apply the brake. see your owners manual ...

( Can't find a home for the chewed up screw left beside the airbag actuator)
Thanks Clan, it's so easy when pointed out.
