I have moved this to the 400 section of the forum as you are more likely to get an answer there.

A kit for the timing belt plus idler and manual tensioner is £60.14.
Most garages will say you don't need the idlers changing, but I would have thought that if going to the trouble of changing the belts then it would be good practice to change the idlers. It is a pain to change the idlers with the engine in-situ, but lifting the engine slightly on a crane, and moving it over a small bit should not be a hard job for a garage. I think the belt only was changed on my car (when I was more naive) B18U petrol engine was about £70. Call an independent Volvo specialist up out of the yellow pages - they can probably give you a price over the phone immediately. |

According to the main dealer the interval for changing it is 60,000 miles on mine ( petrol ) ... I've done 44k. miles since it was last done and I'm nervous ... at over 60k. I'd be brickin' it!

My view is also that the age of the belt should be taken into account.Unless I am absolutely sure of the service history I would change a cambelt even with low mileage but 5 years since last change.
