Default Replacing & Upgrading Consultation C30 T5 2012

Hi,

Quick recap regarding current status:

Half a year ago I bought the car, and immedietly sent it to the garage. That garage visit cost around 3k$(mind you that the car pricing is around 15k here in Israel).

They fixed and replaced alot of things, but the main things were: refurbishing right axle, replacing balance shaft(not sure it's the right term), tie rods, shock absorbers, motor mount, tyres, timing.

Also, oil change 2 weeks ago.

Now, at this point I have some budget to invest in the car, and I'd like to use this budget wisely.

My main target is replacing/upgrading stock components, assuming they haven't been changed for a long time. Secondary target is mildly tuning.

Budget is around 1500$-2000$.

here's my current list of things:

fuel filter 20$

air filter k&n 50$

cabin filter 30$

spark plugs bosch iridium 40$

ipd 120154 - 115$

blow off valve GFB T9354- 200$

icarsoft vol 1.0 - 160$

greddy profec - 350$

elevate software - 750$

I'm pretty sure that I'm missing some key components which are far more important than a boost controller(which is my secondary target).

What would you change in that list to make the car run smoother and better?

Best Regards,
Arkady.

I would get rid of that blow of valve straight away.

Fuel filter is in the tank so you cannot just change that unless you want to change the whole unit.

If you want a blow of valve for the noise as they arent really functional. I would install an intake cone instead of a filter (Have one on mine and makes a tonne of noise)

Depending on the mileage you might want to fit a new TCV unit as these fade.

depending on the year of the car and the mileage I would consider looking at replacing the coils / dampers if they havent been done. either oem or you can go towards coilovers or lowering springs etc.

i actually don't want that blow off valve sound, and the model i picked claims:

"When you want no noise, no nonsense just performance!
THE SIMPLE & ESSENTIAL MOD FOR 30% QUICKER BOOST"

https://gfb.com.au/products/blow-off...turbos-detail/

i just thought it's a component that will do a better job than the oem one and therefore i should get it.

if the blow off valve upgrade is useless, then yeh... maybe the better option is to get an intake kit.

k&n?

https://www.knfilters.com/69-9000ts-...-intake-system

or this one:

https://www.elevatecars.com/store/vo...ir-intake.html

regarding TCV, i'm planning on getting this one:

https://www.ipdusa.com/products/9061...v-p1-p3-120154

thanks for the info about the fuel filter, i didn't know that.

car has around 144,000km/90,000miles.

coils/dampers- i'll check with my garage what exactly they replaced, i forgot.

thanks man!

sorry are they claiming 30% quicker boost for installing a BOV?!

With a cone, yes the K&N looks fine with the heat shield.

With the IPD TCV, I personally wouldnt bother and just stick a new OEM TCV. There have been a lot of problems with upgrading the TCV and mapping so I have stayed well clear of that. The OEM TCV is cheap enough to class as a wear and tear part and as you are just doing a map there is really no point upgrading the TCV.

Really depends what your power goal is.

alright, i will see if there's an oem tcv that i can order online.

"Really depends what your power goal is."

well, that's the thing- there is no clear goal.

i want to replace components which are prone to wear, and if i can do that by replacing with a superior component which will also improve performance, then why not.

other than that, i want to slowly tune and improve performance AFTER the important bits were replaced.

i hope that makes sense

+1 to above. Hilton tune for example specifies that TCV must remain OEM in order for map to work. I wouldnt upgrade it either, better to spend that money elsewhere IMHO.

...:
Get the matching part number and look directly for Pierburg replacement.
in my case, pierburg 30670449 is EXACTLY the same unit sold in Volvo box but for 1/3 of the price.
99% your p.n. will be the same but double check it.

how about the following:

air intake kit k&n 350$

cabin filter 30$

spark plugs bosch iridium 40$

pierburg TCV - 60$

and one of the two:

Elevate Volvo C30 Performance Software Tuning - 750$
or
polestar tuning - i assume would cost around 1000$

is this a smarter route to go with?

also, is the elevate tune recommended? - i'm aware of the search option, it's just some of the information i found is from nearly 10 years ago. no idea if the info is relevant.

I would probably lean more towards the hilton tuning than those that you listed.
