Have you seen these from Sweden, not alloy but fibreglass or carbon fibre

Yes, I have seen the glass and carbon boot lids. I know that Skandix lists some. My past experience with aftermarket GRP and CRP has been that the quality is dodgy and the fit poor. Aside from the up front cost you end up spending a lot of body shop money to get the fit and finish to match OEM.

My hope was that if the aluminum boot lids did exist I might be able to find one on a salvage car in North America which would have lower initial and shipping costs than purchasing a CRP product from Europe. I appreciate the links; but, I don't really need a new boot lid. My existing, rather heavy lid is pretty much in 'as new' condition. I thought an OEM aluminum lid might be an interesting modification that would place less burden on the trunk gas cylinders (I am on my third set).

Another option might be to get a new skin made in alloy and use a steel frame

Apparently police and ambulance , so not likely in N. America.

Aluminum hoods in 240 diesel models , trying to overcome the weight of the Diesel engines.
The 760 with diesel or V6 also had aluminum hoods.
