Will the Garage know it was you who brought this up?

If your car has AWD he could have road tested the brakes and felt the rain had an effect on the result although still a pass.

If you haven’t done so already, then I’d explicitly ask about getting the advisory removed. The worst that can happen is that they refuse to help, which is no worse than now.

my local place often goes a bit mad with the advisories (much to my annoyance) - plain ass covering. This one did make me smile though (sorry)

Why? It doesn't say anything detrimental about the car, just the weather.

Similar to red "Halo" headlights being fitted to a Dodge Challenger i nearly had a head-on with a couple of years back. Why did i nearly have a head-on? Because of those poxy red halo lights! I thought it was the rear of the car and he was driving away from me - the road is very bumpy and at low ish speed, this can make it difficult to determine direction of travel due to the eyeballs bouncing around like Zebedees testicles. As for ridiculous advisories "Underside of car covered in underseal". That (or words very similar) appeared on my last pass certificate!

Scooby , your underseal advisory may well be due to the tester thinking there may be underlying corrosion . We are not allowed to remove / interfere with coatings , so we advise them . It is not uncommon for scallywags to apply extra amounts of gunk to disguise potential problems , sell the car & the new owner then finds they have a dodgy motor . New owner complains to DVSA & original tester gets lined up for investigation / possible legal action . I have seen two appeals performed & they take no prisoners . As a tester you are encouraged to use advisories to cover anything you may feel needs to be brought to the presenters notice , BUT common sense prevails ( normally )

That said i take your point about the less ethical members of the public that present cars for testing.

Yes, I think the garage will get to know that it's me who raised the issue with the DVSA, but I don't see why it should worry them. Unless of course it causes them a problem with the DVSA.
My car is an elderly RWD S90, and the brakes were tested on the garage's rolling road, no road tests were involved. I'm not going to ask about removing the advisory. It took nearly four weeks to get even an acknowledgement from the DVSA. If I start challenging the advisory can you imagine the process? I reckon that I'd still be waiting when next year's test comes round! Next year I'll try to make sure I book the test on a dry day! Jack |
