Best oil for D24TIC? ('95 940 diesel)
Hi,
I am looking to change the oil and filter on my recently acquired '95 940 diesel, but having run petrol redblock cars for the last few years I'm unsure of what oil I should use. Obviously a Mann/Volvo filter will be used, but there is a lot of conflicting information and debate online regarding grades etc. I have always used Shell Helix semi-synth 10w40 in my petrol cars, which has been excellent, but I see recommendations online for everything from 5w30 fully synth to 15w40 mineral, and everything in between! Any advice would be very gratefully received. She is a venerable old girl who has done 281,000 miles and I would very much like to see her get the oil she needs to keep racking up many more. Thanks again Phil

As you may have read in my previous posts my car coming up to 280000 miles ive only used millers XFE. 10 -40 for the last 21 years of ownership and get the VW. MANN filters from ECP or CAR PARTS 4 LESS
Change at 5000 miles you obivosley need 2 5 litres and then a rolling process useing this spare 4 litres at next oil change not cheap but severed me well!! |
