Default 88 740 seatbelt replacemnt ideas?

The front seatbelts on my 88 740 are a little tatty, not damaged enough for a securoty/MOT issue they just look 32 years old. Has onyone on here replaced them with anything aftermarket? or am i best looking for ones from a newer 7/940 used?

Thanks

I'd look for something from a later car, check the width of the tongues on the buckle, some were 22mm wide and others were 25mm wide. One won't fit in the narrow buckle and the other is a sloppy fit and will likely cause an MoT failure in itself. Buying from a reputable person should ensure the seat belt hasn't come from a damaged car and the chances are the buckle will also be available at the same time.

Try giving Luke (360beast) a shout, he may have something suitable.

I guess you may well have to stay with belts from the era of your car.

As from the 700 Series 1990 model year (Sept 89+) things started to change with the introduction of new design and inbuilt seat belt tensioners.

After that there were other progressive improvements in the 940 range. I suspect although I have no proof that later seat belts are not compatible with earlier ones. The proof is in the detail when personally scrutinising a set.

yeah the Tensioners where what worried me, I know my 94 940 had them but I can't check the 740 as its away for painting
