Default P1800 doors and quarter lights

Are the P1800 doors and quarter lights compatible throughout all years? I'm interested to know if earlier quarter lights would fit my 1973 1800ES as I need a replacement and have seen only the earlier ones available.

No Roy, because of the higher roofline on the ES, quarterlights from a coupe will not fit, they are too short. I had a sheared top hinge pin on my ES twenty years ago and it took me a couple of years to find a replacement assembly, even back then there was an abundance of coupe ones around but no ES type.

Doors themselves are interchangeable across the year ranges, the only difference being that 1973 model year ES's have impact beams in the doors.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for that. I have had the car for just a few weeks (bought largely unseen in an on-line auction!) and found that the driver's quarter light catch is broken off. Don't have the catch and probably not repairable anyway. Trouble is that car is not secure when parked away from home. Considering drilling a hole and fitting a bolt and nut to make it secure but haven't really thought this through yet.
