Default Turbo oil leak.

Hi, all

Today, I changed the oil for the first time in my C30. I've had the car since January, and it's got just over 87k on the clock. Just before lockdown, I had the seal on injector number 1 changed, so my engine bay has been coated in oil since. However, I plodded-on - whilst not realising that changing the oil filter was such a formidable task!

When I took the air hose off at the turbo end, I noticed that there was a dribble of oil in the turbo itself (see attached image). I don't know a lot about turbos - but, I don't think it's supposed to be there. I wiped it away, but noticed that, by the time I'd filled-up with new oil and reassembled the filter housing, the oil was back in the turbo. It has also travelled to the air filter housing - and, whilst it's not in the element itself, it is misting on the outlet pipe that leads to the turbo.

I've read a few things about the turbos on these cars - and spares aren't too hard to come-by; neither are they too expensive. However, the two questions I have are: Is the presence of oil on the air intake side a definite sign of the oil seals failing, or am I looking at something like a blocked breather hose? Also - is it a hard job to change the turbo? Aside from that - just general advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Oli
