Oil spec is important and the wrong one could cause damage. Lots ot misinformation, misunderstanding, pub talk, outdated 'knowledge' it's a nightmare...
Great stuff. I'm always cautious with the car which is 15 years old now and in my opinion the better I take care of it the longer it will run. Thing is just below 100k miles and from what I've read it'll run for at least 100k more which considering my usage is, at least, 5 years. Worth it in my eyes as I love this car and would like to keep it for as long as possible. I've a friend who puts a lot of doubt in my mind often telling me not to be too cautious with it as it's an oldie and staying "in or off spec" with everything, won't change much. But I disagree. In my opinion the older the car is and the better you take care of it just extends its life for that much longer and that goes beyond an oil change. It's also my first car in the UK.
