If you like, I could post you the cut weight to swap for yours?
Dismantling and reassembly of the diff is pretty easy.
Jim has already offered you a cut down weight.

In my experience, after the G80 locks up, it stays locked up until you lift your foot off the gas pedal. It just won't lock up about the 25+/- mph.

It has clutches, so even when locked up, it allows some differential action similar to a limited slip differential.

I had a 1988 740T for several years which had a Converse Conversion, Ford 5 liter with T5. When I bought the car it had the original open 3.73 differential. I bought and installed a 3.31 ratio G80 live rear axle from a 1992 945. The G80 withstood all of the abuse my son and I could give it. The G80 has an undeserved reputation for weakness.

We did not modify the G80. With quick shifting, it stayed locked up as you progressed through the gears well passed 25mph.
