Since 2010! I'm no fan of Chinese products, but to give them their due Geely have said Volvo will continue to run semi-autonomously from Sweden, the main difference is that the profits will end up in china rather than in the US.

I guess only time will tell the quality of the new models coming out now.

My biggest worry as the driver of a 240 is how the acquisition will affect parts availability for older models- until very recently Volvo was very good at keeping up parts supplies for older models, but over the last two years more and more parts, even commonly required ones, nave been coming back as 'no longer available' or 'out of stock, no date for when they will be in again'. I don't know whether this is due to the newest 240s being nearly 20 years old now, or whether Geely have instructed Volvo to run down their classic spares departments as a cost-cutting measure, I am very worried!

based on whats happened with rover and the saic senario,, expect oem parts to get harder to find,

although there are usually companies who supplied the manufactures and that will continue to make service and common repair items, its the smaller and often specific parts that fade out from quality suppliers, but cheap chinese copies abound (and fail)

Oh gawd! I hope that doesn't mean they're going to shut down their (huge) factory in Belgium?
Cos I get a fair bit of work out of that place, mind I get a bit out of Sweeden too
