Default Volvo V70R fwd for sale 1998 (S reg)

Volvo V70R fwd for sale
1998 (S reg) 240k miles

For sale, hopefully to someone who is able to fix engine problem, car overall is in very good condition, but needs new engine and turbo. It was in daily use until it lost its oil on the motorway, oil cooler pipe failed, which has been fixed, and engine has had many flushes, and been in use for two and half years since. It does not use any oil, but is getting very noisy. It needs a new turbo and rebuild or replacement engine. Would have been able to do this myself five years ago, but not now. I would like to keep it as it’s better built than any of the new cars I’ve seen or owned, but now need the room, so it’s looking for a new owner. Here’s the details of the car, I’ve got lots of pictures, just need to work out how to share them.

Currently MOT'ed, Taxed and insured and driven locally for short distances.

I’m the second owner, bought car in 1999

No rust on car (except behind rear number plate)

Been used the majority of its life for motorway journeys

Excellent interior, dark cream suede/leather, rear seats as new, passenger, light wear, drivers, some wear.

Very little wear on tyres, front ones have less than 2000 miles

Factory fitted SatNav, serviced a few years ago, good working order, cd’s for UK

3 + 6 auto changer CD, good working audio system

Driver and passenger powered, heated seats, drivers with memory

Long service history, paperwork etc

Passed last few MOT’s with no problems

Have renewed many parts and kept in good working order over it's life

Big overhaul at 200k miles (2013):
Complete rear suspension overhaul at 200k miles, new rubber mounts, springs and self levelling kit, all from Volvo

New handbrake cables and replacement brake piping where necessary, replaced all rubber brake pipes

Later work:
Replacement exchange brake callipers, front and back
Renew engine breather components
Renew ignition components, rotor, distributer cap
All filters replaced at last service
Issues:
Lost oil on motorway 2.5 years ago, has been used for limited distances since, needs new turbo and engine replacement or recon. Gear box and clutch in very good condition.

AC pump front seal needs replacing

Headlight wiper motors not working

Barometric pressure sensor needs replacement, has had this issue for 10 years, not been a problem

Cruise control disconnected by Volvo dealers in error when replacing AC internal evaporator, not got around to sorting out this issue

Bodywork has a few small dings and scratches, but very good condition, no accidents or body work done, always left any of the small dents it’s gained over the years.
Anyone interested?

Mark, Hertfordshire

Thanks for the candid description. I have an excellent T5 engine from an S reg V70, so would be interested. Would your car be fit for longer distances or need transported?

Sorry I’ve not been able to reply, but back now. I’ll add some more photos tomorrow and think about a price. The engine not in a state now to make a long journey, it’s getting very noisy, it would need a trailer etc

OK, got the hang of adding the photos.
As can bee seen the corner of the rear bumper is scuffed, this was done about 10 years ago. Also the 'V' is missing from the V70R and there is a slight dent where someone decided to kick the badge, this was done in 2003. There is a small dent in front wing from a supermarket encounter many years ago, and I think there is a slight dent on rear panel that has happened in the last few years.

I have full set of keys, service book, owners manual and UK set CD's for satnav.

Now the big question, how much do I want for it, I had been intending to get it back to full health, but that's not an option for me now and I need the space. The MOT runs out at the end of next week, I spoke to my local garage who think the engine problem should not stop it getting through the MOT? It's taxed until the end of the month, so I'm looking for a reasonably quick sale (before I change my mind). So how does £350 sound?

I don't seem to be able to respond to personal messages, looks like I need to type more first. The car is located in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, if anyone wants to inspect it.
