Brake pipe manifold - help!
Hi all
I’m replacing all the brake flexi hoses with goodrich braided ones. The fronts are done but the rears the garage is nervous of removing them as there is a manifold that will break when they come to undo it. It seems to be the hardest thing to source! Volvo no longer supply it: Part number - 3516569 You can see what it looks like here: https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...lines/1053041/ Anyone come across an alternative to this or a conversion that can be used? Thank you! |

Hi Attilat
What car (make, year model) is this for? Looking at https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/p...7/3516569.html it looks like it would fit Volvo 850 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 Volvo 850 2.5l 5 cylinder Fuel Injected 1993 Volvo C70 Convertible 1998 Volvo C70 Coupe 1998 Volvo S70 1998 Volvo V70 1998 Volvo V70 XC 2.5l 5 cylinder Turbo 1998 When I last worked on the rear brakes (replacing with braided hose) on a 1998 V70 the manifold didnt break. There is another connecting block on the transaxle which is mostly plastic, and it is cheap and available from Volvo. Probably worth getting one of those. Have you asked a Volvo dealer for that part? If you are going to replace the hard brake lines that go out to the wheels, then you could probably cut them near that manifold and dismantle it off the car which should reduce the risk of breaking it. Or if you are unlucky, someone could probably provide one from a breaker. Steve

If the junction has to be replaced and it becomes the Hens teeth! doubtful.
These should be available from the likes of:~ http://www.kstbrakehose.com/product/...ion-block.html You may have to get a little inventive but not impossible - a hydraulics supplier is also very useful for making up such items- brake suppliers may also have an item that can be adapted Good Luck |

Thanks all for coming back to me.
The car is 1995 (N) 850 T5. I spoke to two dealers (Winchester and the Swansea lot which were so helpful with the PCV kit) but no luck. Bob, your suggestion sounds good which is to get a new part made for it. |

From the picture it looks like brass? Which would make heating very challenging. Equally it means corrosion is unlikely and it should be easy enough to release.

It is brass with brass unions on the pipe... it will heat up just fine same as copper and all metals..
Obviously you need to go sensible but will heat up no bother. |
