Default 2006 S60 Lux 2.4d with 16" wheels

Hi, hope someone can advise and help.

Ive had my car for 2 years and have noticed that it does not have the original wheels, going back through the history the 1st owner did swap the wheels over. The car is on 205.55 r16 wheels. Looking through the sales brochure it states that the 2.4 d is not avail with 16" wheels, it should have 17" wheels.....Damm..

So I have 16" wheels fitted, issue I have is on the O/S/F i get a knocking noise which sounds like the wheel, ive done a ton of stuff on the car but could the 16" wheels cause issues?

Thanks guys.

Matt

No it’s not the wheel, that is as long as it’s a complete workout wheel without cracks etc. The most common offenders are drop links and shock top mounts.

If anything having smaller wheels with bigger sidewalls will hide clunking noises better.

This is unlikely to be the answer as you have had the car so long but 16" wheels might have minimal clearance between the rim and the callipers.

I'd guess drop links as mentioned. Don't buy cheap ones, they don't last.
