v50 1.6d no boost
Hi everyone, just joined and have an issue you might be able to help me with.
I bought a v50 1.6d two weeks ago and had no problems with it. Over the weekend it has developed an intermittent issue where it has no boost on the motorway but when you're driving around town its fine again. On the trip back from Cork earlier there was a 30 second boost delay when it did boost but for most of the trip there was no boost. No dash lights came up either. Car is 2007 with 180k km and full volvo service history. Any ideas? |

Maybe the loose battery connection was causing the turbo boost issue? |

Hi
Check possible causes. 1.Turbo Vacuum hose has a hole or are chaffing on body. 2.Check Vacuum hose from Vacuum pump to actuator. 3.Actuator pump not working. 4.Turbo actuator gets stuck on turbo. 5.Use Vacuum gauge to test that hides have no holes.Use same tool to see That turbo actuator holds Vaccum. 6.See if any codes are stored. Hope this helps |

thanks, I havent had time to take it for a good spin on the motorway yet to see if the loose battery connection was causing the random no boost problem. Would you know if the car would develop a no boost issue if the battery connection was loose?

I had some time today so i had a look at the engine. I had planned to have a look at the egr but coming from owning a bmw e46 320d and knowing where everything is I'm a bit lost looking at the volvo engine. Everything seems to be in different places.
Firstly I noticed theres a sensor on the pipe between the intercooler and the inlet manifold thats held on with a cable tie and is very loose. What is that sensor? Its connector is broken too. Also, on the other side of the engine a breather pipe is held on with another cable tie and its leaking some oil onto the engine under it. Is there a special connector needed here or would a jubilee clip tighten it up? Also, where is the EGR valve and is there a DIY tutorial on how to remove it and clean it? Is that is at the rear of the engine just left of the battery? |
