Default 2001 51plate Volvo V70 Automatic Metallic Red

2001 51plate Volvo V70 Automatic Metallic Red, normally aspirated Torslanda 2.4L - B5244S2 / 2435cc engine.
MOT’d until 27 September 2020.
Interior is in very good condition with no tears, catches or rips in the fabric upholstery. Driver’s side seat bolster replaced September 2012. This vehicle has only ever had synthetic oil from new as well as Volvo OEM filters having been fully maintained by a North Wales Volvo dealership to Jan 2011 shown in the fully stamped service book. Thereafter by either a Volvo specialist or home DIY enthusiast, but almost always using Volvo OEM parts, the invoices are available if required.
3 owners from new, 1st owner (less than 1 year) was Volvo dealership, 2nd owner 9 years, 3rd owner 8 years.
New starter motor January 2018. New J & R drive shafts both sides including new axle bolts, Volvo OEM front and rear pads + brake fluid flushed and fully replaced 31 August 2018 @ 207755miles.
Power steering fluid has been flushed and replaced biennially using Comma MVCHF irrespective of mileage. NB Comma MVCHF is the exactly the same spec as pentosin.
195 x 65 x 15 95V XL Michelin Cross Climates fitted all-round & 4-wheel laser tracked on 24/08/17 @ 203002 miles – current tread depth @ 209873 miles front 7.1mm, rears 7.4mm – 4 wheel retracked @ Feb 2019.
Vehicle was SORNed on 29 November 2019 at 209873 miles having done only 51 miles since it was MOT’d on 23 September 2019. The mileage will not increase.
Cam belt, auxiliary belt, idler/tensioner pulley and water pump changed @ 175472 miles on 7 March 2012 using all Volvo parts supplied by FRF.
The alarm siren was replaced a couple of years before I bought the car so no alarm warning message showing & the alarm works!
Last oil filter, oil change, air filter and plugs August 2019 prior to passing its MOT.
The body work shows no signs of corrosion anywhere, in particular the front suspension turrets are in excellent shape……. unfortunately, the body which, until a few months ago, had only ever picked up a few minor dings from shopping trolleys etc. had both rear wing wheel arches damaged whilst parked in a hospital car park on separate occasions.
Both nearside doors have dents caused by a steel bollard lurking below the window line…..I had stupidly been taking direction guidance to negotiate a sharp narrow right angle bend between a line of parked cars and a lawn whilst exiting a car park, the chap waving me on couldn’t see the bollard either impact occurred at less than 2mph, most of the lacquer coat is still intact, all the undercoating and rust prevention is intact in all the damaged areas: the plastic door buffer strip is in the boot having been removed for the MOT as the leading edge was projecting slightly beyond the door line, the B pillar is undamaged.
I’m told the dents will pull out easily, but it would probably be easier to replace the doors. The last MOT was passed with the body in exactly the condition that it is in now, shown in the pictures below, i.e. no sharp projections, no compromise to body integral strength.
Ordinarily I would get it repaired as it has proven to be a very reliable car over the last 8 years. However, having bought a V70 T5 in March I just don’t have the time available to sort out the Torslanda which in all honesty is the better and more reliable car.
On that note, if you are looking for a very reliable non-turbo V70 which has been well maintained over the years with a long MOT, has great all year/all-weather tyres but also has the polished battered look of a prize fighter then look no further that mine offered for sale at £575.

It may sound a bit pricey for the year, mileage and body damage, but do consider the tyres and mag-alloy wheels are worth around £450 and that it has almost new drive shafts, starter motor and brakes, with an excellent interior, heavy duty genuine Mercedes battery, the spare wheel has done less than 5 miles, original tool kit with cotton gloves, drivers handbook, audio handbook, service book, 2 key fobs, 2 original main keys plus the original service key, all good front glass head lights as well as excellent subsidiary front and rear light clusters/indicators/position lamps etc., no codes and fairly new (2 years old) Denso lambda sensor; looking at it another way, if the value of the motor was nil on the 27 September 2020 then the cost per week would work out at £12.96………….i.e. less than a day’s rental of a similar safe load carrier, there again the breaker’s weigh in value would still be in the order of £200+ at the end of the year.
Whilst I think it would be a crying shame to break such a reliable vehicle. However, that is the route I will go down if doesn’t attract the offer price.
