A not that interesting a post, just a standard whinge:

Picked up the V70 today and it is reasonably clean, until you start lifting things here and there, and OH BOY the amount of crud I'm finding. For example, there was half-a-dog worth of hair in the boot space. I even found a tennis ball!

This is going to take some time...

Do different D5s have different tax bands? I’ve seen people say they’re over £200 per year etc. I have a 2014 D5 215bhp manual and my tax is only £130. Will this make it cheaper to go into cities with these daft emission zones that are just a easy money maker for the local councils?

My 2016, 220 bhp xc70, is £210 pa, But, it is Euro 6, so I can goes into That Londin, and I has a ‘Crit Air 2 ‘ sticker for travel in random cities in That France. Charging by cities is based on the Euro rating not tax band.

Is your D5 a manual? Manuals are usually cheaper to tax.

A quick update:

There was so much grime here and there, especially in the rear, that in the end I removed all of the interior panels in the boot. It looked like the inside of a PC case that had never been cleaned, with a dash of dog hair and sand. So as the missus cleaned up the panels in the living room while watching trashy TV, I gave the rear a thorough dusting, hoover, and wipe down. Team effort!

Also, there is a lot of information on dipsticks for the D5, but not so much on the D3. So this morning I had a cheeky look and clean, and it does have a threaded mounting point! I hear the electronic dipstick is pukka, but I can't help my self, so will fit a classic one.

I don’t think it makes any difference if it’s the D3 or the D5 as long as it’s a 5 cylinder, dipstick should be the same. I think the only reason why they list it as D5 is they are all 5 cylinder whereas the D3 is generally the 2.0 Peugeot/Citroen engine, I don’t think there’s many of the original D5 163bhp’s about in the P3 marked as the D3.

This age D3 is a 2 litre 5 cylinder.

Dipstick is the same as the D5.

Welcome to the world of 5 cylinder noise :-)

AH! I had come across something related to naming confusion; good to know.
