15" Wheels !
Hey guys,
Looking at getting a set of 15" wheels for my 740. I found a set of 15x8's on eBay and would like to get a set of 15x what ever for the front so they match ! Did the 700's ever come with 15" rims ? how about the 900's ? thanks, Cam |

UK 740s did come with 15" rims.
Those from the early 740s and 240s will fit on an early 740 no problem. Later ones can take 940 wheels which have different offsets. There is great expertise then my rough guess work. I have Virgos on mine (which came with the mid 80s 240 GLT) - very nice taken from the now dead |

Mine has the 15 inch steel rims Cam. I guess there must be a year they changed over from 14 to 15.
Look in the Quokka motoring accessories section as there is usually 3-4 740 for wrecking . There is a new edition Thursday 5-1-06. Dont go paying freight charges for rims all over aust when you can get them in Perth. Remember the price of 15 inch tyres takes big jump over 14 in. Im using Pirelli 185x65x15,I think thats what they come with new |

just a thought, which you may have accounted for, but make sure that the offset is correct for your car.
I bought a set of 4 rims for a MB a while ago and when home realised that although they were all the same rim and J size, one was for an E class not S class so would have fouled the disc brake assembly. To stop this MB used different wheelnut sizes - something that isn't always noticed (or forgotten to be mentioned) by people selling on) My seller agreed a refund and I sold the rim on but the car did look stupid for a while. The only issues I have with these rims is that I couldnt actually try them, but according to the measurements of off set etc, they should fit...
It will be tight but they will fit ! Standard Volvo offset is about +20-25mm where as these rims are +30-35mm but are 8 inches wide! i'd prefer to be running an ofset of about +20-25mm as there is about an even amount of space either side of the tyre. but over all should only make the wheel stick out any extra 20mm. So i just wanted set of 15x5.5 or 6 for the front to match ! I'll have a chat to Leo in Parkerville over the next few days to find out about some wheels, thanks Rosco ! Cam |
