940 questions

Hello all. First time here since becoming a VOC member 2-3 days ago thought been using my 940 since 1997 but it's out in Malaysia where it's been mistreated and abused by its caretakers. So please excuse me if I have lots and lots of questions to ask. To start of though I need to ask the following first:

1) I'm thoroughly confused about the offset on my 940. Some say it's 25; some
43. Is this a year specific parameter? How do I get someone to check it?
There's this set on e-bay which were fitted to 1996 940 series and are called
Pholus, Volvo Part no 9173603, size 6Jx15x25. Would these fit my 940?

2) Are the interiors of the 960 compatible with a 940. I wanted to spruce mine
up and really go bonkers about the 960 wood dash, steering wheel and gear
selector? Is it possible to retrofit?

1) yes the 940's have an offset of 25, it's only the face lifted (post 1994/5) 960's which have a wheel offset of 45.
So yes the wheels off the 1996 you've seen will bolt straight on.


2) again the interiors of 960's will bolt straight in but the door cards wont fit from face lifted car after 1994/5 but the seats will.

I've got 960 electric memory seats in mine and they fitted straight in, the power connection was there in my car as well ,just plugged in

Also post 95 steering wheel's have air bays, so would be a lot of work to fit.

Thanks Volvoman. I've managed to get someone to check that the offset is indeed 25 on my 940. Just seen the pictures if the interior of your car in the Gallery section. That's a 960 steering wheel right? Is it difficult to get a wood wheel as well as a wood gear selector?

no it's just a standard late model 940 leather steering wheel, quite a bit thicker rim on the wheel than the normal pvc wheels
