Default Warning light XC60 2017

Looking for advice, a yellow warning light appeared on dash looks like a gearbox but on manual investigation is actually emissions related, no doubt due to just local short journeys suiting up exhaust box, gave the old girl a good thrashing but light still on. Has it got to be a dealership for the computer to turn off the warning light? I stay way out in the sticks so nearest Volvo garage about two hours away and I'm i doing any harm still running about?

My initial response would be to find a motorway or decent A road and take it for a good drive. Try to keep it above two thousand RPM for twenty minutes or so, no stopping. If it's really cold do it for longer and give the DPF a chance to do its job.

Buy yourself a £10 obd2 bluetooth reader. I brought the Torque Pro one off amazon. Then a car scanner app on my phone and it reads the codes for you. can clear the codes. Also good for looking at the g of soot in the dpf (mine tends to regen when it hits 26g, and lots of other sensors, Works a treat.
