I wish I had access to parts cars, but any 240 series cars are very rare here now. Luckily I work in a sheet metal workshop as a laser cutting machine operator. So I can make replacement parts for it.
Yes the wheel is off the wagon. I got a set off a mid 80's 244 I bought for parts some years back.

I was looking at this 245 a while ago. I'm happy that someone has bought it and will lavish attention on it. I think it could make a good everyday car. It is a lot rougher than it appeared in the photos!

Default long overdue update

Hi all,

Having just been using and enjoying this sporadically for a while now, I decided to do a little rust treatment on the rear end yesterday, the top trim was hanging off and I could see lots of crust accumulating under it.

Fearing the worst I took the bumper and trim off. Mostly metal, I gave it a wire brush to end up with this

worst bit

Some more rust under the LH tail light

Fairly pleased with the state of it tbh... The bumpers were pretty crusty so I took the rubber off, not so good:

Back on the car

This obviously needs some improvement, the lower side portions are very badly corroded. I'm considering trimming the profile and bringing them closer to the body, maybe some "speed" holes (ha ha!!) It's an opportunity to play around as it's basically scrap otherwise...

I've also obtained a spares car which will donate a number of parts including a 5-speed box . I now have a complete set of tan leather seats (or the means to make one at least) and another set of wheels, once I've adapted them to fit.

Default 5 years later...

This beauty/beast has been in my ownership for 5 years as of Tuesday, longest I've ever owned a car in 20 years of driving.

It now has Alfa front seats and GLT rear bench, wide 140 steel wheels and hubcaps, a 940 turbo engine, M47 gearbox & US spec front lights (with RHD lamps)

It's currently having a cosmetic spruce and then a mechanical freshen up in advance of it's 40th birthday in March!

It's staying brown, don't worry!

I bought some cans from a German seller via ebay, they were a surprisingly good match.

I have a more detailed thread on another forum, http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...rs-approaching
