Default Sudden Price Increase? 850 and pre facelift v70 t5

Afternoon all

Anyone else notices the price increase on the 850 t5 and v70 t5? (Manual )

I swear around 8 months ago I picked up an 850 t5 for £800 and that was a manual.

So whats happened? Have I missed something?

People are asking silly money for them now around 2k and above!!

Been on the search now for a good 4 months now ever since my T5 blew up, was gutted that i had to scrap it, then again i thought i could get another one easily as when i was looking before they were easy to buy with little money.

So whats caused the price hike?? The Manuals are asking near the same money for a e46 M3

Owners are causing the price hike. They are worth a lot more than they used to sold for, people are now realising it and the prices reflect it. They're also quite in demand so its a sellers market.

Far as I'm concerned its a good thing.

Yes true but at the same times sucks for buyers.

Just a shame really as i thought i could get another one, but it looks like my luck has run out. Even the autos are fetching some decent money. Also seems to me Volvo loved making autos

Found a manual 850 t5 on gumtree for £4500!

But its madness in my opinion

If you study those cars that are for sale long enough, you will realise they are still for sale several Months later and more.
Wait until one comes up for sale on ebay without reserve, and as long as the car isn't bidded up by the owner!, a decent one will fetch around £1500.

Not many left that the reason. I looked mine up on how many left.co.uk and there are only 42 left in the country. (Mines a T5 manual CD). The ones that are left have probably been well looked after to get so far. Mine also runs on LPG so it costs me only 13p per mile to get around. I am glad the prices are going up as I keep telling the Mrs that they will be classics.

Of interest, there are more Jensen Interceptors and Mk II Cortinas around than high spec T5s, T5Rs etc. I think the only things I could find that were more rare, were the likes of Allegros and Marinas. Over the last 10 years many drivers have forgotten about what great cars they were.

Be patient. One will come up for that price eventually.

There is a T5 manual on gumtree at the moment. The owner has Just reduced it from £3000 to £1500. I would think there is room for manoeuvre even at that price!

A well maintained one in nice cosmetic condition is worth about £1500, especially now we’re approaching winter. Lots of dreamers around, who wonder why their cars are still for sale after 6 months. It hasn’t sold because the price is wrong, it’s too expensive. These cars don’t lose money, but sadly purchase price plus money and time in, is not equal to sale price.

A case in point. 100k miles, overall decent condition £1500: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F153218307567

Yes your right, but don’t forget the one you are showing is another automatic. The OP is after a manual, which are a bit more expensive, but I still say you will eventually find a good one that is a private sale for around £1500
